Modern Feed video search engine and aggregator unveils new approach to finding video online

Modern Feed is a new service to help users navigate the ever more densely populated domain of online video. Part search engine, part aggregator, it is focusing on indexing professionally-produced programming, not user-generated video - and complete programming rather than clips.

J.D. Heilprin, Modern Feed's founder/CEO describes the company’s aim as targeting mainstream users with an easy way to find available, high-quality video. A team of "feeders" choose the best videos to include on the site creating an index currently of 550 networks and 25,000 pieces of content. A networks can range from the traditional broadcaster to indie new entrants such as the Architectural Digest. This is played from the source's site (sometimes with a Modern Feed navigation frame at the top of the screen). It also offers an iPhone implementation with other devices to follow. This is an area where user behaviour has not revealed any clear pattern yet and rival video search engines such as Truveo, ClipBlast, blinkx, Veveo compete with portals like AOL, Yahoo and MSN, with navigation sites like TV Guide and the recently-launched PrimeTime Rewind. This is before you count the networks' own sites (and syndication efforts) that offer users the chance to track down content. Behind all this of course, is YouTube, the first stop for many users when it comes to video and one that is rapidly moving upmarket through partnerships with premium providers. Modern Feed is looking to supply a strong user experience for mainstream users with advanced device integration to differentiate itself.

Digital Media: Apple's Richard Townhill Calls to Discuss the Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 Update

I just got off the phone with Apple's Richard Townhill, senior director of applications marketing, who took the time to update me on the latest major update to Final Cut Pro (http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/), ver. 10.0.3.
